Kenneth Tarr has written a fast-paced, well-researched novel that is not only fascinating but technically sound. As you read, you will recognize yourself and others in your ward and neighborhood, and you will be amazed at how ordinary people rise to extraordinary challenges and become great. The author shows church members and other people all over the world reacting to events that are connected to the Savior's eventual return. He also deals intelligently with false doctrines that undermine God's truth and threaten our freedoms right now.

Most members of the Church recognize that the Last Days have begun, and most will also agree that the bulk of the trials will come sometime in the future and not in the year 2000 when people have been scared into obedience. The Gathering Storm takes place in that future. No one can prophesy exactly what will happen in those days, nor does the author intend to do so, but as I read the book, I understood that his story could happen. The characters and their challenges are compelling and real, the natural and economic disasters explained and reasonable. I could envision it taking place, and members rising to the challenges, not with fear and trembling, but with faith and courage.
