" I Am a Child of God"

The Primary Theme for 2008 is "I Am a Child of God. What a wonderful theme for the 2008 Primary. It is the basis for all that we learn in Primary. "I am a child of God, and He has sent me here, has given me an earthly home with parents kind and dear. Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do to live with Him some day."

Can we ever be told enough that we are children of a divine parent? Anytime a child can be told and assured that there is a Heavenly Father up there listening to prayers and answering them, a testimony is strengthened. Not only the testimony of the child, but the adult speaking the words can feel the power in them as well.

When teaching a group of very disinterested young women who had made it clear they were in class because their parents made them and that nothing I said had any value, I could only bear my testimimony that they were Daughter's of God. They had infiniate worth. Nothing else I could say touched them. But the simple message that we learn to sing in primary "I Am a Child of God" filled the room with the spirit. That message will always touch the hearts of children and adults, because it's basic and because it is so very true.
